Good SEO takes time | Jenny Laine Designs

Hey Reader,

It’s easy to look at SEO (Search Engine Optimization) as a quick fix. At first glance, it may seem obvious to you that you can purchase SEO services and find your website appearing at the top of the search results almost instantly.

However, this is a very common misunderstanding of how SEO works. It takes time for SEO work to pay off and bring benefits to your business.

An easy way to look at SEO is to compare it to visiting a gym when you want to lose weight or build some muscle. Your first visit to the gym won’t show an immediate visual improvement. You understand that it will take some time to get to where you want to be.

Over time, through hard work and dedication, you’ll start to see improvements. Your visits to the gym see you gaining muscle or losing weight and bringing you closer to your goals.

An SEO campaign for your website works in just the same way. The continued SEO efforts help the search engines understand your website and see that it’s a valuable resource to show potential customers who are looking for products or services like yours.

When a user performs a search, the search engine will display the results that they feel are most relevant and helpful. This is all done automatically through the various elements that run behind the scenes in their search algorithm.

Realistically, it can take 3-6 months before you start to see good results from SEO. This will, of course, depend on several factors, including the level of competition as well as the budget you have available.

A smart SEO agency will look for low-hanging fruit and quick wins to help you get traction as soon as possible. So make sure you ask them about that before undertaking any SEO services.

While 3-6 months may seem like a long time, you need to remember that the search engines need that time to trust and understand the value of your website. If they didn’t have smart algorithms, then every search results page would be full of junk websites that don’t provide answers or assistance.

Although there’s no shortcut to getting instant SEO results, you could consider adding a paid ads strategy to work alongside your SEO campaign. This would give you the best of both worlds, with some immediate visibility through paid ads and the long-term benefit of the SEO work to follow.

SEO isn’t a ‘quick fix’ for your marketing. It’s an excellent long-term strategy that, when carried out well, can bring fantastic results to your business for a long time to come.

Dear Reader, I hope you’ve had a great start to 2025. Today is International Data Privacy Day, a day to raise awareness and promote privacy and data protection best practices! So, in honor of Data Privacy Day, today would be a great day to: Reset your passwords for common...

Dear Reader, This week, Meta went silent...we all watched...refreshed our screens...is it back up we wondered. While some use Facebook to mindlessly scroll, many users depend on it for social media marketing and business. And when a big platform shuts down, many feel it in their wallets. I have a feeling many of you reading this often use it for both personal and business reasons. I thought it might be good to send a quick email to partially speak to this and partially speak to why having a...

Hey Reader, Have you ever written a messy email? It doesn’t have a perfectly self-contained message, and there’s no neat sign-off or sales pitch at the end. It’s not overly polished, and it reads a little bit like something you’d get from a friend. These emails can actually encourage more engagement from your customers than their perfected counterparts. I’m not saying you need to write a bad email or put less care into your email marketing. Absolutely not. It’s very important to keep creating...
